Christine stopped and gazed at her reflection in the tall mirror. The wedding dress fit her perfectly- the waist, the arms, the chest.... Even the headdress slipped onto her brown hair with ease. Flawless... just like all of the other clothes hanging in her dresser that Erik had bought her....
She lifted her hand and looked at the smooth golden ring around her finger. Her eyes and nose were distorted with the reflection. She began to remember Erik... the expression that she had seen on his face when she tore off his mask for the first time... when he dropped the chandelier at her feet... when he proposed....
She shut her eyes trying to blink out the tears. Raoul was suffering in that torture chamber.... What could she do? No clever plan popped into her mind, no matter how much she thought. She was helpless to Erik's plan. She became enraged at the thought of him using Raoul's life to bargain for her compassion. She wanted to rip the ring off of her finger so badly, but--
The door to her room slowly creaked open. She saw Erik's reflection in the mirror in front of her. She tried to compose herself as best as she could- shaking away her tears and putting herself into an indifferent stance with her back to him, her nose turned slightly upward, and her eyes shut tight. She felt him moving closer- for he was impossible to hear- and stopping close at her back. As he gathered her hands together and placed a bouquet in their cradle, she could do nothing to stop the tears.
-
And as he silently kept her in his arms, deep down Erik knew that Christine could never fully be his....
No matter how deeply he loved her.

Yay story! Now rant!
I this beyond any sane reason! Huzzah!
*Clears throat* This isn't really based on any particular version, but it mostly leans twords the original Leroux, as you can see. I got the idea for it late one night while browsing bri-chan's gallery. Yay.
More love now.
Erik and Christine (C) Gaston Leroux
art (C) me! gahahahahaha!
Edit: Forgot somethin on her dress....
Edit2: A lot of people seem to be confused about this, so I am setting the score straight. The scene written above in italics is not an excerpt from one of the books; I wrote it.
That is the coolest excerpt from a story, and it's just a great picture to go with it!
Only thing I see wrong is that the ring is on the wrong finger. Other than that, this is really good!

This is absolutely beautiful! the beauty in the characters is only extended by the background. The closeup of the roses in their bouquet is beautiful and just... wow.
I wish there were the words to describe how lovely this is.

Yay! You colored it! This is absolutely beautiful. The detail is just exquisite (don't know if I spelled that right, haha) I especially love the look on Erik's face, it's so sad. I also love the background! I wish I could say more about this, but I just can't find the words...
Oh yeah...I like the little bit that you wrote to go along with it. I was sitting here thinking, "What is that from?" lol It's really well written, I thought it was either Leroux or Kay, but I wasn't sure; now I know! hehe
Anyways, I must this, thanks for creating such a lovely and emotional piece!

.1 Background is strange. Maybe my screen shows colours a bit more lighter (my screen is for graphic works).

But in general I like it and as I dig phantom works, I am considering
