Watchers

Wow, what a great holiday!  I feel like I've been drawing more than I have in a long time.  It's probably because I don't have any shows coming up.  I'm just applying to grad schools and chilling out until classes start up again.

ANYWAY I have a question for you wonderful people.  I have gotten really rusty over the last few years (obviously).  I want to really start grilling myself to improve my work, but I'm not sure what the best way to go about it would be.  I could do a bunch of quick sketches or speed paintings to limber myself up which would certainly help, but I also feel like I don't take my time with some of my pieces.  For example, I didn't take enough time with the color scheme on "How Megamind Stole Christmas," and goodness knows I should've put some effort into a background or some separate planes- anything to give it a little more dimension....

What do you think?  Should I churn 'em out or take my time?  Does my approach need to evolve some?  Am I just over thinking all of this?  Lol!  :)

Hi! I am studying to become a scenographer for the theatre. I keep my professional art off of DA, but I use my deviantart for my hobby illustrations. Thanks for taking a look!

Leslie, I am very much interested in using your "Stalking Abroad" for my next book cover. I am a legitimate playwright and produced my adaptation of "Phantom" in the Spring of 2011. Can you email me at HighVoltageSC@aol.com and let me know what your policies are for using your art? Thank you, Sincerely, Christopher Cook
